Andrew Ferrie
Full Stack Software Engineer at Aer Studios
I’m a software engineer with experience across frontend, backend, and cloud systems. I currently work at a creative technology studio and have also worked in consultancies and product teams, from early-stage greenfield projects through to large-scale public services used by millions of people.
Before moving into tech, I spent 7 years as a teacher, including extensive one-to-one coaching. That experience shaped how I approach mentoring: patient, practical, and focused on helping people build confidence as well as technical skills.
I’m particularly interested in mentoring:
Early-career software engineers
Career changers trying to break into tech
Having changed careers myself, I understand how intimidating the industry can feel when you’re starting out. A lot of new developers don’t just need to learn programming, they need help understanding how engineers actually think, work, communicate, and grow in a professional environment.
I can help with:
CV and portfolio feedback
Interview preparation
Communicating your skills with confidence
Where to focus your learning
Navigating your first engineering role
Building confidence and practical problem-solving skills
