Hok-Him Poon

I started my professional career at Bloomberg after graduating from Cambridge with a Computer Science degree. After 10 years corporate experience, I founded Pirical, a startup specializing in people analytics software. 9 years later, we grew to be a self-funded tech business of 40 people. Throughout this journey, transitioning from an individual contributor to a technical leader and then to CTO, I encountered numerous challenges and learnt many lessons along the way.

The decision to mentor stems from a personal recognition of the value mentorship has in professional development—a benefit I wish had been more prevalent in my own journey. My aim is to provide guidance and insight to those navigating the complexities of the tech industry, leveraging my experience to foster their growth in areas such as software engineering, leadership, and strategy.

My interests outside of my career include rock climbing, exploring ancient Chinese literature, and appreciating classical music. I’m a believer of life-long continuous learning and personal growth. I am looking forward to share my knowledge and experiences to help others find their path and achieve their professional goals.
