Greetings!
I’m Karthik Dhanabalan (aka KD), an Aerospace Engineer with over 10+ years of experience in the aerospace industry, specializing in Research, Presentation, and Analytical skills. I hold a Master’s degree in Aerospace Structures & Composites from the prestigious McGill-Concordia Joint Aerospace Program in Canada and a B.Eng in Aeronautical Engineering from Anna University.
Currently, I work as the Engineering Lead and Structures Engineer in the Aircraft Certification Engineering (ACE) Department at FLYHT Aerospace Solutions Ltd.
**Professional Highlights**
- I am a Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) registered with APEGA in Canada.
- I am a certified Project Management Professional (PMP) from PMI.
- My journey in aerospace has been defined by a passion for innovation and problem-solving. I have led and contributed to several impactful research projects in India and Canada, including:
1. Design and Development of a Low-Cost Subsonic Ramjet Engine using CFD, fabricating the engine setup, and testing it with alternate biofuels.
2. Development of Natural Composite Materials, designing plates using coconut fiber and natural resin.
3. Advanced Stress and Vibrational Analysis of Composite Structures during various graduate-level projects.
**Vision for the Future**
My long-term aspiration is to establish an organization driving advancements in aerospace engineering dedicated to providing innovative solutions to optimize the aerospace industry.
**Leadership Beyond Engineering**
Beyond my professional expertise, I am deeply committed to mentoring and supporting students in achieving their academic and career goals.
In 2015, while applying for my Master’s in Canada, I began mentoring fellow students who sought guidance on university applications. Starting with a few peers, I quickly recognized the need for a larger platform to address common questions. This led to the creation of the Canadian Association for International Students (MEng/MASc/PhD/PGD) on Facebook, which has grown to a vibrant community of over 15,000 members. Through this group, I have mentored thousands of students, helping them navigate the complexities of higher education abroad.
**Passion for Innovation and Mentorship**
During my undergraduate studies, my bachelor’s thesis remains one of my most fulfilling achievements. It not only showcased my innovative thinking but also earned the trust of my professors, who continue to refer final-year students to me for guidance. I’ve collaborated with numerous students on their final-year research projects, helping them achieve exceptional outcomes.
Whether in research, professional projects, or mentoring, I thrive on exploring new frontiers in science and supporting others in their journeys.
