Johnson Taiwo, (MBA, MCIM)
Business Marketing Analyst / Data Scientist
As an international student turned practitioner, I understand the uncertainty that comes with adapting to a new education system, job market, and professional culture. I’ve experienced the rejection emails, the pressure of balancing study with career development, and the challenge of making the right long-term decisions in an unfamiliar system.
When I moved to the UK to study an MBA at UCLan, I quickly realised that qualifications alone were not enough. To adapt properly, I deliberately deepened my skills in Data Science (LSIB) and Professional Marketing (CIM), not as a pivot, but as a way to strengthen how I connected data, business, and decision-making.
That intentional approach created momentum.
Before completing my studies, I secured an Analytical Manager role, gaining hands-on experience working within the UK tech and analytics environment. Like many professionals navigating change, I later faced an unexpected setback due to leadership and financial changes, which forced me to reassess my positioning and strategy.
Within a year of completing my studies, I re-entered the job market with greater clarity and went on to secure three offers within the UK Civil Service. That experience gave me deep insight into how hiring, assessment, and role fit work in practice, not just in theory.
Today, I mentor individuals navigating international education, data and tech career pathways, and competitive job markets. My focus is on helping people make structured, informed decisions, position their experience effectively, and build careers that are sustainable over the long term.
