About me

Hi, I’m Dennis.

I’m a father of two (*2006 && *2014), Buddhist, horseman, engineer by trait and an incurable optimist. I love music, talks, animes, series and multiple areas of tech when well-crafted. In the evenings, I sometimes find myself searching for planets through my telescope after having watched way too many videos on astrophysics, nuclear fusion or similar topics of which I understand only half of. Professionally, I am VP Technical Operations at Solarisbank AG, a leading Banking-as-a-Service platform based in Berlin. In this role, I’m responsible for the development and operation of the whole technical infrastructure, and together with my peers I work on the further development of the entirety of Tech. I consider the cultivation of a sound, secure and reliable engineering mindset as an important part of that.

I have worked for more than 15 years as a software developer in agile companies with an increasing focus on systems development and automation. In 2014, I became a Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) of ISC². At Solarisbank, I moved to the management track, where I learned about the challenges on the executive level and how to build, steer and guide a team of 100+ people.

In the last years, I have had the chance to learn a lot from great leaders in the Startup and FinTech fields. If I can pass on some of these things, I’ll be happy to do so.

The session with Dennis was very insightful, and I'm already looking forward to our next conversation! He did not only help us with questions regarding our hiring- and product development-strategy but also shared insights on how investors will assess our current status from a technical point of view.

I was impressed by how Dennis gracefully has been juggling so many things during our session.

My key points about our session:

1. Ask good questions > yes

2. Listen and encourage > yes

3. Guide the conversation > yes

4. Have a positive approach > yes

5. Generate personal responsibility and ownership > yes

It was a great experience because I got my "home-works", a set of ideas that I can develop with my team.

Danke für deine Zeit Dennis. Du konntest genau dort ansetzten, wo bei uns der Schuh drückt und direkte Lösungsansätze liefern. Hat mir wirklich Spaß mit dir gemacht.

I went into the session with a specific question in mind. Dennis quickly figured out that I needed to answer another question I was not aware of instead.

I got great input and would like to schedule another session soon.

Thank you, Dennis!

Dennis has provided insightful answers to my questions. He has provided experiences of his own to explain some topics and that contributed to the sincere vibe. The session was the first meeting to get to know each other, albeit it got already beyond that in a positive way. I am looking forward to have another session with Dennis in the future.
