I'm co-director of Apart Research, an AI safety research and talent-building startup. We run global hybrid research hackathons (Apart Sprints) and a remote-first global AI safety research fellowship (Apart Lab). I'm responsible for Apart Lab. My professional background is in AI research engineering, my education in philosophy and physics (Ph.D. in experimental quantum physics) to software engineering and artificial intelligence. I enjoy challenging problems, thoughtful discussions, and creative problem-solving. Colleagues say I'm good at structuring projects and driving innovation. Current research interests include safety evaluations of large language models, AI interpretability, and AI alignment. I have also worked as an AI research engineer and software developer in startups for over five years, most recently on data extraction from scientific publications, knowledge graphs and embeddings for the scientific domain, text summarization, and benchmarking of NLP models. Outside work, I love music; I have been singing in classical choirs for over ten years and helping manage one for many years. I enjoy hiking, biking, and the outdoors. And I'm fond of foreign languages and always happy about opportunities to learn and practice.
